Unit 48 is a Frazer box on a 2000 4WD Chevy K-3500 chassis. The box is powered by a gasoline-fueled Onan generator, which takes the electrical load off the engine. An onboard heat pump keeps the patient compartment comfortable and provides climate control for the drug box. |

Gone, but not forgotten...
Old Unit 46 This vehicle was taken out of service in July 2003. It ran as our primary ambulance from 1991, when it was purchased new under a state-sponsored contract with McCoy-Miller. The Chevy 3500 truck was the squad's first 4WD. |

Unit 42 This ambulance came from East Hanover Rescue Squad in 1987. We paid $1. We put a new chassis under the box and installed an ALS package and COR radio. The ambulance served the citizens of Mid-County's 1st due until 2000. The man on the ladder is Jim Hughes, dismantling 42 prior to selling it to Kevin Bray of Courtesy Texaco in Heathsville. |
