April 5, 2006 - General Business Meeting - Wednesday night 7:35 p.m.
I - Dan called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
  • Minutes have been posted. Dave made a motion to accept the minutes and Larry seconded the motion. They were adopted.
III - Treasurer's Report
  • Three (3) CD’s have been purchased in the total amount of $100,000. There is a 15-month for $50,000, a 12-month for $30,000 and a 9-month for $20,000.
  • Larry made a motion to accept the report and Devin seconded it. All approved.
IV - Captain's Report
  • Everything has been running smoothly and all calls are being responded to.
  • Dave also informed the squad, that he attended the PEMS
    Quality Assurance meeting and will keep us informed if we will be affected by anything that arises from the meeting .

V - Vice-President's Report

  • NONE.
VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • If anyone has radio problems, see Ed and he will fix them.
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • NONE.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • The signal light on 48 will be checked after the meeting.
  • The Battery Charger for Rescue Command 4 is in and will be installed, (completion date unknown).
IX - Training Officer's Report
  • The Mass Casualty walk-thru will be held on April 22, 2006 and this will be April’s Training. All are encouraged to attend.
  • Sunday April 9 th if the EMT’s need practical, Sandi will meet with them. Rappahannock Community College will be holding 6 courses. This and all updates will be posted on the bulletin board after the meeting.
  • The Mass Casualty meeting held at Northumberland Rescue in Reedville was well attended by Mid-County.
  • Beverly, Nick and Pam all took the EVOC Course in Warsaw and have all passed the course giving Mid-County 3 additional drivers.
X - Building Committee Report
  • The building lights have been ordered. The Downspouts need to be repaired and PVC pipe needs to take the water away from the building. This is causing a major erosion problem. We were reminded to call Miss Utility before we dig.
XI - President's Report
  • Notify Dave if you are attending the Mass Casualty mock drill on April 22. Lunch will be provided free and they will need to know who is attending.
  • There have been Landscape Drawings submitted by a college student who is majoring in Landscaping posted on the Bulletin Board. This Landscaping could be done in the Fall, since we missed the Spring deadline.
  • A request was made to replace and replenish cleaning supplies for the building and vehicles. After much discussion it was decided that Danny will do the list and Devin will order the supplies.
  • Sign up sheets will be on the bulletin board for the following:
    • Turkey Dinner, Sunday 4/9/06 from 12 to 3. Need Servers and Kitchen help .
    • Health Care @ Library 4/8/06 from 1 to 5.
XII - Old Business
  • Fire Alarm system has been reworked and is now operating properly.
  • A committee for the By-Laws has been formed. Those on the committee are Devin, Ed and Dan.
  • The Farmers Market on April 15 will have a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. The Farmers Market is held on the 3 rd Saturday of each month and there has not been a decision whether we will participate per Dave.
  • A discussion was reintroduced about purchasing a new ambulance. Herb presented the following information:
    • A quote for a 2006 ambulance that is identical to Unit 46 for $99550.00. If the chassis changes to a 2007 the probable increase would be 2-3% more of just the chassis amount, which is approximately $30,000.
    • The radio in #48 would transfer and we would have to have the lettering & stripes done at an additional cost. After much discussion a vote was proposed and taken and the vote was 8 in favor and 5 in opposition. The motion carries and a committee was formed consisting of Dave, Ed, Larry and Herb to research and submit a final proposal which will include the needs and wants.
  • A proposal was also submitted from RMC for Heat and A/C in the Bay. The proposal was for $14,440.00 .
  • Diane Jackson was voted into membership. A motion was made for a voice vote and was seconded by Devin.
  • The new stretchers were ordered and went into production on March 24 th, 2006. The timeframe on delivery is 4 – 6 weeks .
  • A Thank you for Dave bringing in Bleach and Pine sol was made by Angela.
XIII - New Business
  • An order for 25 EMT patches @ $4.89/each was approved.
XIV - Auxiliary's Report
  • Bingo will be held on 4/7/06 from 7 PM – 9PM.
  • There will be 4 Bake sales which will be held at the Bank of Northumberland on Fridays, the dates and times will be announced.
  • There will be 4 dinners this year, 2 chicken dinners, 1 turkey and 1 roast beef dinner. These will also be announced.
XV - Cadet Report
  • A request for any fundraising ideas for the Cadets was made.
