I:
The General Business Meeting of Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad was
called to order at the
Squad
Building
by Larry Wagner on Wednesday, 2 April 2008, at 1930 hours.
II:
Attendance (encl 1) – Devin Campbell, Frank Cook, Judy Cook, Barbara
Darden, Herb Fowler, Ed Gotthardt, Rebekah Haynie, Robert Hudley, Danny Jackson,
Diane Jackson, Janice Kauffman, Tina New, Jeff Newsome, Brad Townshend, Dan
Townshend, Larry Wagner, Nancy Wagner, Jeanne Widenmyer, Aaron Wilson, Linda
Wilson, and Nick Wilson were present. Terry
Blackstone, Roger Briney, Allen Bryant, Dan Gotthardt, Kay Guy, Lisa Roberts,
Anna Rundall, David Rundall, Paul Ryan, Pam Townshend, and Angela Yerby were
excused.
III:
Minutes of the 5 March 2008 meeting (encl 2) have been posted.
Nancy Wagner made a motion the minutes be accepted as submitted.
Jeanne Widenmyer seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
IV:
Treasurer’s Report – Jeanne Widenmyer submitted the Treasurer’s
Report (encl 3) through March 2008. Income
was $1405.92; expenditures totaled $2877.23.
Jeanne noted that the cadets cleared $380.00 from the pancake supper.
Nancy Wagner made a motion the report be accepted as submitted.
Rebekah Haynie seconded the motion. Motion
carried.
Rebekah thanked Jeanne for her
assistance in sending acknowledgments for the memorial
donations
Mid-County
received in memory of her mother.
V:
Vice President’s Report – Dan Townshend
We had RMC look at the drainage problem in back of the building.
Their recommendations included installing an oil skimmer on the cistern.
We will look into the cost.
VI:
Captain’s Report – Ed Gotthardt
1.
Judy Cook and himself
will be attending a protocol meeting at 1000 hours tomorrow in
Gloucester
.
2.
Will be away 10 – 22 April, 1 May and 3 May.
3.
Dave Rundall sent word
that he would have a duty day on Thursday,0600 – 1800.
4.
Discussed the upcoming
Mass Casualty Exercise, scheduled for Saturday, 5 April.
Expect everyone not working to be
here. Bring vests, jump suits, eye
protection.
5. Thanked
everyone for their support. Everyone
is digging in and working well together. Keep
up the good work.
VII:
1st Lieutenant’s Report – Janice Kauffman
1.
Reminded everyone of
the Farmers Market, 19 April. Sign
up sheets are posted for this and for all of these events
throughout the season.
2.
Open House is
scheduled for 17 May. This will
coincide with
EMS
Week. Open House will conflict with
the Farmers
Market. Plan to form a committee for
the Open House. Want to consider
everyone’s ideas.
3.
We have received a
request from the YMCA to assist on 12 April, from 1200 – 1300, with Healthy
Kids Day.
4.
Callao Moose Lodge is
providing an appreciation breakfast/lunch, 12
April, for all members of local fire and rescue
units.
5.
Callao
has incident classes scheduled for Wednesday and Friday nights, 23 and 24
April, and all day Saturday and
Sunday, the 26th and 27th.
This is a “must do” compliance requirement for those in leadership
positions.
6.
Plan to have a
table outside Food Lion on 26 April taking blood pressures, distributing
information, etc. The cadets
will be involved.
7.
St. Stephens has
requested coverage on 24 May to cover the Strawberry Festival.
8.
Plan to order
eight additional shirts. Linda
Wilson’s Aunt has offered to apply the patches.
Individuals wishing to
order short sleeve shirts should let me know.
9.
The WalMart check has come in. Danny
Jackson and Ed Gotthardt will take care of procuring the GPSs.
10.
Northumberland
High School
has requested our participation at a Transition Fair, 14 May, 1730 – 2000.

2nd Lieutenant’s Report – Judy Cook
Thanked everyone for keeping the units cleaned and stocked.
Thanked squad
for their prayers for her husband. Reported
he is doing well. He will be
undergoing chemotherapy soon.
IX:
Vehicle Officer’s Report – Herb Fowler
Everything is up and running; just routine maintenance.
X:
Building Maintenance – Danny Jackson
Plan to get the water cooler hooked up soon.
XI:
Cadet’s Report – Linda Wilson
Car wash was canceled last Saturday.
Date for the car wash in May will also change.
XII:
Auxiliary Report – Jeff
Newsome The ‘Wild Country
Band’ fund raiser is scheduled for Saturday, 12 April.
People are
needed for setup on 11 April beginning at 1300.
XIII:
Old Business – question
pertaining to required inoculations will be carried over to the May meeting.
XIV:
New Business –
1.
Larry read two cards of thanks from the family of Mary Hinton
2.
Robert Hudley advised
that the upcoming Farmers Market will be running until about 1600 due to the
wine tasting
event.
3.
Nancy Wagner suggested
promoting the Open House by handing out flyers at the Farmers Market.
XV:
Jeanne Windenmyer made a motion the meeting adjourn at 2020.
Nancy Wagner seconded the motion. Motion
carried. The next meeting is
scheduled for Wednesday, 6 May, at
1930 hours.
