I - Nancy called meeting to order.

II - Secretary's Report

Minutes posted. Cindi made a motion to accept the minutes and Garfield seconded the motion. They were adopted.

III - Treasurer's Report

Debra made a motion to approve the Treasurer's report. Ed G. seconded the motion. All approved the report.

IV - Captain's Report

  1. 26 calls for July. 219 calls for the year.

  2. Thanks to everybody who helped out with preparation for the state inspection.

  3. 1st response vehicle-Committee has been formed to identify needs and make recommendations for a vehicle to replace #41. The committee members are Townshend, Hughes, Basye, and Newsome. They have been charged with assessing needs for a chase vehicle and making recommendations to the board of directors by Dec.

  4. Grant request-Money for uniforms has been requested from funds-North'd Co. has to support our ability to deal with weapons of mass destruction.

  5. Stroke protocol-if you respond to a patient c/o possible stroke, notify the hospital from the scene. The hospital needs at least ½ hour to assemble resources for appropriate therapy for stroke victims.

  6. Mike Macron has agreed to serve as the squad's training officer. He will be keeping track of dates, reports, and scheduling CPR and CE classes."

  7. We are working to get Mid-Co. certified as an EMSAT site.

VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report

  • None.

VIII - Vehicle Officer's Repor

  • Sold old #46 for $5,550.00.

  • A new suction pump and electric switch for the main oxygen tank have been installed in 48, so the patient compartment in both units are equipped almost identically.

IX - Auxiliary's Report

  • Lawn mower race Aug 16, 2003. Please sign up on sheet to help with setup and staffing.

X - Building Committee Report

  • Carpet to be installed on 8-11-03.

XI - President's Report

  • Those who attended the picnic on 7-19 at Mallard Bay had a wonderful time of fellowship.

XII - Old Business

  • Last month we agreed to hold an open house in October for the crew quarters upstairs, but the space probably won't be ready by then. Nancy proposed postponing the event for the time being. Nobody objected.

XIII - New Business

  1. Voted Mike Marcon in as a regular member.

  2. Cindi made a motion to sell gray and red T-shirts for a fund raising. Rebekah seconded the motion. All agreed.

  3. Mike announced the formation of an EMS Peninsula Assistance Fund to provide money to area EMS providers who need money to cover personal expenses during times of crisis. Mike and Debra Parker sit on the fund's board, along with members of other Northern Neck EMS agencies.

  4. Mike Marcon also made a motion for MCVRS to commit a unit for Task Force as needed. Cindi seconded the motion.

  5. The leader of Girl Scout Troop 3173 want to meet at Mid-Co. Building. Garfield made a motion and Ed G. seconded the motion for them to do so. A member has to be there. All agreed.

XIV - Training Committee Report

  • None.

XV - Junior Squad

  • Devin is planning for a meeting before he leaves for college to elect a new president.
