February 2, 2005 - General Business Meeting - Wednesday night 7:35pm .
I - Nancy called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
Minutes posted. Dave made a motion to accept the minutes and Herb seconded the motion. They were adopted.
III - Treasurer's Report
Dave made a motion and Dan T. seconded it to accept the report. All approved.
IV - Captain's Report
  • January calls report totaled 22 calls. There were 73 calls for the year.
  • EMT -B Course begins February 15 from 8PM -10PM and will be taught on Tuesdays and Sundays from 7PM – 10 PM.
  • EVOC – February 23 & 24 th 6:30-10:30 , February 26 th driver training.
  • Dr. Sutherland will be on vacation from February 1 to March 17 2005. Dr. Perkinswill be covering.
  • Direct Admit was discussed and if a patient is a direct admit the Emergency Roomdoes not need to be involved. Take patient directly to their room.
  • The VA Rescue Meeting for Recruitment and Retention will be held Saturday February 5, 2005 in Montross.

V - Vice-President's Report

  • The new 2005 Chevrolet Suburban 4 Wheel Drive was discussed. A breakdown of the required features was given. The cost of approximately $31,509 was given with a 90 to 120 day turnaround.
VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • First Responder class was attended by 4 people from Mid-County. This was a 50% turnout, since the class attendance was 8. We were told the class was very good and worthwhile.
  • Members advised that the truck placard book should be utilized.
  • 3 Radios were approved to be ordered with a cost of $4975.
  • A quote for the light requirements for the new vehicle will be given at next month meeting.
  • Also use of the building is encouraged but Please CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. This is an ongoing problem and we are asking that you clean up your mess .
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • Farm Vehicle Extrication class will be held at R.G.H. on January 22, 2005, check with Cindi on the time.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • Battery charger was upgraded from a 10 AMP to a 30 AMP.
  • When a unit is at the hospital, the engine (but not the generator). This will conserve on fuel cost .
IX - Auxiliary's Report
  • Bingo will start in March.
  • Bake sales are being scheduled for March, June, September & November.
  • A turkey dinner will be held in April and a pancake event in September.
X - Building Committee Report
  • The acoustic ceiling was installed and we are thankful for the difference it makes. The Ice cleats installations was incorrectly reported in the last minutes and are to be installed by April or May .
XI - President's Report
  • 5 HeartStart AED’s were ordered and our cost will less than the approved amount.
  • Long distance calling will be eliminated from the station phones. The administrative officers will procure calling cards which will be used to place long-distance calls from the station.
  • A thank you note from Mary F. Hinton was read, as well as a note from the Jackson Family.
XII - Old Business
  • Correction about the Ice Cleats.
  • The highway signwas discussed and a State Grant on this is due in March.
  • The Fund Raising Letters will go out sometime in March or April
XIII - New Business
  • Beverly Townshend & Anna Rundall were voted in as probationary members.
  • Parking lot need to be coated approximate cost is $2000. A motion was made and seconded to approve the repaving. Hooper needs to make repairs where the holes are.
  • It was requested the Boy Scouts be able to use the building for the Blue & Gold Event on Saturday 20 th and also for their Derby event (date unknown).

  • None.
