MID-COUNTY VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD

I:    The General Business Meeting of Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad was

called to order at the Squad Building by Larry Wagner on Wednesday, 2 January 2008, at 1930 hours.

II:   Attendance (encl 1)  – Devin Basye, Roger Briney, Judy Cook, Barbara Darden, Herb Fowler, Ed Gotthardt, Kay Guy,  Rebekah Haynie, Danny Jackson, Diane Jackson,  Janice Kauffman, Tina New, Paul Ryan, David Rundall, Brad Townshend, Dan Townshend, Pam Townshend,  Larry Wagner, Jeanne Widenmyer, Aaron Wilson,  Linda Wilson, Nick Wilson, and Angela Yerby were present.   Alice Bird, Terry Blackstone, Allen Bryant, Heather Cook, Dan Gotthardt,  Robert Hudley,  Jeff Newsome, Lisa Roberts, Anna Rundall, and Nancy Wagner  were excused.  

III:   Minutes of the 5 December 2007 meeting (encl   2) have  been posted.  Jeanne Widenmyer made a motion minutes be accepted as submitted.  Janice Kauffman seconded the motion.  Motion carried. 

IV:   Treasurer’s Report – Jeanne Widenmyer submitted the Treasurer’s Report (encl 4) through December 2007.  Income was $17,530.00; expenditures totaled $33,681.61.  Dan Townshend made a motion the report be accepted as submitted.  Barbara Darden seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  

 

V:    Captain’s Report – Ed Gotthardt

  1.            Thanked Dave Rundall for helping him make the transition.

  2.            Stressed to Squad members the importance of notifying an officer if you break something or discover something broken. 

  3.            Thanked Squad for their good work.  He noted that Mid-County is well received in the community.  Residents are usually   

happy to see us..

 

VI:   1st Lieutenant’s Report – Janice Kauffman

  1.          The Call Summary is up-to-date.  Thanked Diane Jackson for her perseverance

in accomplishing this.  She has put in many hours getting us caught up.

  2.          Minutes have been posted.

  3.          Rosters have been updated.

VII:   2nd Lieutenant’s Report – Judy Cook   First day on the job.  Looking forward to it.

VIII:   Vehicle Officer’s Report – Herb Fowler    Both units are running.  The new mirrors have been installed on 48.

  IX:      Cadet Report – Aaron Wilson   Presented the proposed agenda of Cadet activities.  This includes a dance on 1 February, from 1800 – 2100, for ages 10 – 15; a pancake dinner on 1 March, from 1600 – 1800; a car wash on 29 March from 0830 – 1200; a car wash on 17 May from 0830 – 1200; an “Out of School” party on 14 June, from 1800 - 2100.  Janice Kauffman made a motion this agenda be approved.  Jeanne Widenmyer seconded the motion.  Motion approved.  Sign-up sheets will be posted to assist with the proposed event.

   Larry Wagner, on behalf of the entire Squad, thanked the Cadets for their support.  He noted that they donated $200.00 to the Squad, presented at the Christmas party.  This was very kind, thoughtful and generous.

X:      Old Business -

1.          Paul Ryan noted that the building is aging.  We can expect to see some high dollar items needing attention.

2.          Ed Gotthardt noted that we will carry the issue of uniform shirts over to the next meeting.

          3.     Herb Fowler will change the door combination.  

  4.     Paul Ryan presented a sketch of the proposed new sign.

  XII:    Conclusions – Para IX, approved 5 events proposed by Cadets

  XIII:   Dan Townshend made a motion the meeting adjourn at 1950 hours. Jeannie Widenmyer seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 6 February 2008, at 1930 hours.
