July 6, 2005 - General Business Meeting - Wednesday night 7:30pm.
I - Nancy called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
Minutes posted. Dan T. made a motion to accept the minutes and Larry. seconded the motion. They were adopted.
III - Treasurer's Report
Larry made a motion and Dan T. seconded it to accept the treasurer's report. All approved. The treasurer read four letters of thank from families recently served by the squad.
IV - Captain's Report
  • None. The Captain was excused from this meeting.

V - Vice-President's Report

  • None.
VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • A training session for the Suburban will be held after the meeting. This should be about 15 mins. Additional training will be given after next month’s meeting, including use of the SKED. The unit will be called "Rescue Command 4," or "RC4."
  • A reminder that the log book for RC4 must be used and must be complete.
  • Any problems with handheld radios or batteries can be taken care of after the meeting. The squad will explore the possibility of buying additional remote microphones for handheld radios.
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • State inspection will be on July 12 th. The building and vehicles need to be cleaned; a cleanup detail is scheduled for Saturday. A signup sheet was circulated.
  • Vehicle Inspection sheets need to include the unit # and date.
  • Four (4) training sessions on the Incident Command System will be held in Callao, only one 8 hr. session is required. All members are asked to attend. A signup sheet was circulated.
  • According to PEMS (Peninsulas EMS Council--the Squad's regional governing body), the patient and call data collected by the state is likely to change in the future, but the changes and when they will be implemented is not known. A revised pre-hospital patient care report (PPCR) will result. Stay tuned.
  • A list of names of people needing photos for ID’s was read. These photos will be taken at the end of the meeting.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • The fuel guage and tailpipe on #48 fuel gauge have been repaired.
  • A motion was made to sell unit 41 (after removing all lights, etc.) for $500, Jeanne seconded it. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
IX - Auxiliary's Report
  • None.
X - Building Committee Report
  • None.
XI - President's Report
  • New forms for Equipment Specification Sheets are available in the front office.
  • Picnic is July 23 at Mallard Bay and an attendance sheet was passed around.
  • Rice’s Tavern will hold a celebration to dedicate the new blacksmith's shop and has asked that Mid-County be present to do blood pressure checks on July 23 from 10-3. A signup sheet was circulated.

  • None
XIII - New Business
  • Marty & Ray Hancock were presented as new members. A vote will take place on their membershp at the August meeting.
  • Cindi made a motion to purchase Microsoft Access software for the computer upstairs so that members who need to do so can work with the squad's operations database. Jeanne seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
  • Chris asked that some thought be made to acquiring new stretchers. Be aware of the weight of these. He will acquire the information and do follow-up.
  • The Northumberland County Emergency Management Team, of which Mid-County's Captain and Vice President are members, will meet on the last Wednesday of July.
  • Verizon has installed a new telephone tower in Burgess. The tower should be operational by the end of the month. Implications for Mid-County's cellular service and internet service are not clear.
  • Northumberland and Fairfield thanked Mid County for our participation at the scene of the accident involving Deputy John Sanford and at his Memorial Service.
XIV - Training Committee Report
  • When vehicles are used the log must be filled out. There is a separate log that will be used to collect data for the reports to Phillip Morris when RC4 is used to transport evacuees during inclement weather or other incidents.
  • A brief orientation to RC4 will be held after tonight's meeting.
  • A motion was made to purchase a set of incident command personnel vests for RC4 and Safety vests for the ambulances (3/each). Ed made a motion to appropriate $300 for this and Cindi seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.
  • Devon (the squad's training officer) asked that any ideas and input for monthly training be addressed to him.

  • None.
