  1. 24 calls for April. 147 calls for the year .
  2. Standby: May 8 (Court Day Craft Fair), May 23 (St. Stephens). Sign up sheet circulating.
  3. 12-Lead ECG electrode placement demo at June meeting .
  4. School Emergency Plan. Last month’s EMSAT, on the 5 th anniversary of the Columbine High School tragedy, was sobering. Northumberland has no cohesive plan to deal with a similar event here. The captain plans to initiate discussion about it at this month’s Northumberland Emergency Management Team meeting. She is working on getting extra copies of the tape and wants every Mid-Co. member to see it.
  5. EMT instructors: 2 of our members, Jim and Sandi, attended the practical examinations to quality as EMT instructors. We need to start holding monthly drills again, for which EMTs will be able to get CE credit and drivers and thirds will be able to learn things you need to know. We plan to hold 8 sessions a year. The captain asked members if they prefer Saturday or Sunday for this event; members chose Saturday. The time will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  6. RGH BBQ Bash is on Friday May 21, from 5:30-9:30pm at the Beacon  in Topping.
  7. Thanks to the members who turned out for the extrication drill in April. The captain expressed disappointed that most members were unable to attend since this opportunity was so close home .
  8. NN Emergency Response System: An effort to set up such a system is being coordinated by PEMS. The formational meeting is May 27 th at 7 pm, ULVRS in Lively. The captain said she will attend and asked for another member to participate; Ed Gotthardt stepped forward.
  9. Airbag deployment during extrication: According to the Va. Dept. Of Fire Programs, we need to report all unintentional deployments of automotive safety equipment, whether or not one of us is injured, by calling 202-366-2545 or 877-201-3172 .
  10. AED on #41: The battery charger for the AED on #41 has died, so old Marquette is on board again. Remember to swap batteries whenever you run a call as you complete the inspection on your ambulance. Dave Rundall agreed to see if he can fix the HeartStart battery charger.
