7:30 PM - General Business Meeting – Wednesday, March 1, 2006.
I - Dan called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
  • The minutes from February were adopted. Devin made a motion to accept the minutes and Larry seconded the motion.
III - Treasurer's Report
  • January’s report was corrected to reflect the interest for the end of January.
  • February has been very slow.
  • Larry made a motion to accept the report and Ed seconded it. All approved.
IV - Captain's Report
  • A letter of appreciation was received for Mid-County’s response to a recent fire call. It was read and noted.
  • A reminder was also given that emergency lights on personal vehicles when responding to a call do not constitute an emergency vehicle.
  • They are only a request for other drivers to give us the right-of-way if they so choose. They also do NOT give us the right to speed .

V - Vice-President's Report

  • NONE. Note: Nancy has been moved to Tappahannock into rehab and we all wish her well. .
VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • Vehicle 48 will be returning to Richmond for radio upgrade.
  • A special “thank you” to Alice Bird (a retired member of the squad), who was the first person on scene at the recent MVC on Coan Stage Road.
  • A reminder to keep reports straight and to check equipment on the ambulances.
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • This position is vacant.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • None.
IX - Training Officer's Report
  • A reminder that CPR Pro is required to all operational members. A list will be posted of those that need to update.
  • The monthly training will continue to be held on the 2 nd Sunday of each month.
  • The March schedule Topic is not known as of this reporting.
X - Building Committee Report
  • The Building lights are 10 years old and the need for new lights were discussed. Paul stated that the front, back, and side lights would cost less than $1000.00. Dave made a motion to replace the lights at a cost of $1000.00, and Janice seconded it. This was approved.
XI - President's Report
  • The Elementary School thanked the Squad for the use of the bingo equipment recently.
  • Also Northumberland County thanked the Squad for the building use for installation of their radios.
  • The Virginia Department of Health sent out a letter for child safety seats and a flyer was made up with the help of the primary school and these flyers were distributed to all students to take home.A motion was made to continue this practice each month. Dan will do the flyer and the squad will supply the paper, the school will copy it and distribute to students to take home. This was approved.
  • A reminder that the Boy Scouts will be having their Pinewood Derby on Sunday @ 2 PM.
  • The TV in the training room seemed to correct itself with a metal plate between the TV and the wall. It was suggested this would be a cheaper solution to get a metal plate instead of replacing the TV.
XII - Old Business
  • The stretchers were discussed and the lease with purchase would prove to be costly in the long run. For two (2) stretchers the approximate cost would be $6398. It was suggested that we purchase the stretchers now, instead of waiting for a grant. Dave made a motion to purchase them and Janice seconded it. It was approved and Devin will go ahead and work out the arrangements.
  • The C-band satellite receiver is fixed .
  • Bradley Townshend was voted in to the Jr. Squad. Dave made the motion and Rebekah seconded it. It was approved.
  • A nomination that Chris Kerns fill the vacancy of 2 nd Lt. Ed made the motion and Devin seconded it. That was accepted and the position is closed.
XIII - New Business
  • The Mass casualty Incident is scheduled for April 29. Details will follow. Training will be held for the Mass Casualty at the Northumberland County Rescue Squad Building in Reedville on March 8, 2006 @ 7 P.M. Those interested in attending should contact Larry Wagner.
XIV - Auxiliary's Report
  • Bingo will be held from 7 PM – 9PM on the 1 st Friday of each month.
  • The Community Photo event went very well.
  • The Bake sale will be held at the Bank of Northumberland on Fridays, the time is unknown right now.
XV - Cadet Report
  • None.
