May 4, 2005 - General Business Meeting - Wednesday night 7:30pm.
I - Nancy called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
Minutes posted. Larry made a motion to accept the minutes and Dave seconded the motion. They were adopted.
III - Treasurer's Report
Dan T. made a motion and Herb seconded to accept the report. All approved.
IV - Captain's Report
  • The call summary for April showed a total of 28 calls, 2 emergencies and 2 non-emergencies.
  • Callao Rescue has given the code to the lock door as 48000*, this can be used when Mid-County members respond to the Callao station to render mutual aid.
  • Due to recent accident in New York with a Rescue Squad vehicle, the NEED TO WEAR SAFETY BELTS was stressed. A reminder that this is to be done when going to a scene, leaving the hospital, and as much as possible.
  • Orientation for the new first response vehicle will be scheduled in the future.

V - Vice-President's Report

  • The Rappahannock BBQ Bash is to be held Friday, May 13, 2005. RSVP needs to be in by May 5, 2005 .
  • Carbon monoxide detectors were suggested. These can be placed on the go bags so that harmful levels of the gas could be detected both in the ambulance and in structures the squad enters during emergency responses. Dan T. moved (2nd by Cindi) to purchase the equipment. A voted was taken and the purchase was approved unanimously.
  • A regional EMS Awards Reception will be held on May 18, 2005 at the PEMS office in Gloucester.
VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • The squad's new first response vehicle (a Chevy Suburban) will be picked up from the dealer on May 5, 2005. The vehicle will be named Rescue Command 4. The lettering and other equipment will need to be completed before the vehicle is authorized to be put in service.
  • Northumberland County has obtained new HT1250 handheld radios that will enable the squad to take our 600/1000 series radios out of service. New radios will be assigned to members who carry 600/1000 radios as soon as possible.
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • Cindi requested that the supply closet “grocery list “be utilized for those items that are needed by squad members.
  • The state Office of EMS has deleted its requirement that ambulances stock and carry activated charcoal. This medication will be taken off the vehicles.
  • The April 7, 2005 CPR class was cancelled and will be rescheduled.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • Everything seems to be running well.
  • The cell phone on unit 48 will be check after the meeting.
IX - Auxiliary's Report
  • Bingo will be held Friday, May 6, 2005.
  • Bake Sale on June 18, 2005 will be rescheduled.
  • Chicken Dinner is scheduled for May 15, 2005. A signup sheet was passed around for help in set up and service for the dinner.
X - Building Committee Report
  • Installation of the ice cleats on the station roof will be completed by the 24th of May.
XI - President's Report
  • None.
XII - Old Business
  • St. Stephens Craft Fair will be May 26, 2005. A signup sheet was circulated.
  • Provident Insurance gave a bid of $8000 for insurance that provides better coverage than Worker's Compensation; as a result, the current Worker's Comp insurance has been dropped. Accident coverage has been added to the squad's policy.
XIII - New Business
  • Chris Kerns has applied for membership. He is a previous EMT-B from Stafford County.
  • A request for cleaning supplies to help prepare for the chicken dinner was made.

  • None.
