I: The General Business Meeting of Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad was
called to order at the
II: Attendance (encl 1) – Devin Basye, Roger Briney, Allen Bryant, Melvin Cockrell, Barbara Darden, Herbert Fowler, Kay Majors-Guy, Rebekah Haynie, Robert Hudley, Danny Jackson, Diane Jackson, David Rundall, Paul Ryan, Bradley Townshend, Dan Townshend, Pam Townshend, Larry Wagner, Nancy Wagner, Linda Wilson, Nick Wilson, Jeanne Widenmyer, and Angela Yerby were present. Alice Bird, Terry Blackstone, Heather Cook, Judy Cook, Dan Gotthardt, Ed Gotthardt, Janice Kauffman, Jeff Newsome, Anna Rundall and Aaron Wilson were excused.
III: Minutes of the 3 October 2007 meeting (encl 2) have been posted. David Rundall made a motion minutes be accepted as submitted. Roger Briney seconded the motion. Motion carried.
IV: Treasurer’s Report – Jeanne Widenmyer submitted the Treasurer’s Report (encl 3) through October 2007. Income in October was $19,103.24; expenditures totaled $8,501.63. Nancy Wagner made a motion the report be accepted as submitted. Paul Ryan seconded the motion. Motion carried.
V: Captain’s Report – David Rundall
1. There
is a course being offered for Infection Control Officers in
20 January. Linda Wilson and Dianne Jackson plan to attend.
2. Showed members the plastic cards that have been put on each unit re spousal
abuse. They provide guidance on what to be aware of; how to detect possible abuse.
3. There is a Basic EMT class coming up at RCC in the near future. If anyone is
interested, please make us aware.
4. Reported that a backup heater was recently discovered left on in a unit. This
could result in fire. Reminded Squad that these heaters are for emergency use only. New drivers need to be advised of this potential danger.
5. We have received a complaint that a red trash bag was disposed of with the regular trash. Caution - Red bags indicate medical waste and must not be disposed of with the regular trash.
VI: Training Officer’s Report – Devin Basye
announced an all day class for ALS folks in
VII: Vehicle Officer’s Report - Herb Fowler announced that there would be a short session following the meeting tonight with the drivers.
VIII: President’s Report – Dan Townshend
1. We were recently given twelve chairs by Food Lion which have been passed
on to the Auxiliary.
2. Beverly Townshend’s name has changed to Grigsby. Records should be
changed to indicate the change.
IX: Vice President’s Report – Larry Wagner
1. The Building Maintenance Committee recently met. Minutes are posted
on the bulletin board. The several items requiring action have been corrected.
2. Have one bid on the parking lot; waiting for others.
3. The VAVRS meeting will be held here on 17 November. The Auxiliary
will be preparing and serving the meal.
4. The Auxiliary has noticed items missing from their refrigerator. Cautioned members that the sodas in the refrigerator are to be used at bingo and belong to the Auxiliary. Suggest Auxiliary lock the refrigerator, put up signs, etc.
X: Cadet Report – Linda Wilson reported that the Auxiliary has no objection to the Cadets doing a pancake supper or a spaghetti dinner. They are going to try to do something this month.
XI: Nominating Committee – Nancy Wagner
The bylaws have been reviewed and it is noted that no committee chairperson is automatically part of the Board of Directors. Therefore, those positions are not part of the proposed nominations. Further nominations may be made from the floor with prior consent of the person being nominated. Election will take place in December. Nominations are – President, Larry Wagner/Vice President, Dan Townshend/ Secretary, Barbara Darden/Treasurer, Jeanne Widenmyer/ Captain, Ed Gotthardt/

XII: Auxiliary Report – Linda Wilson
1. Bingo has finished for the season and will start back up in March.
2. Reminder of bake sale scheduled for 16 November.
3. Pictures will be taken for that fund raiser on 11 November.
XIII: New Business –
1. Dan Townshend noted that the combination to the door to the building will change 1 December.
2. Paul Ryan reported that a member of a local church approached him re using
the building for a couple of months, from 1100 – 1300 on Sundays. Members ask that a letter stating exactly what resources they need and for approximately how long be submitted.
3. Linda Wilson reported that mention was made at the recent Dedication that Mid County did not have uniforms. Several ideas were suggested. This will be researched and discussed further at the next meeting.
