I - Nancy called meeting to order.

II - Secretary's Report

Minutes posted. Dan T. made a motion to accept the minutes and Ed. G. seconded the motion. They were adopted.

III - Treasurer's Report

Dan T. made a motion and Cindi seconded it to accept the report. All approved.

IV - Captain's Report

1. 37 calls for October, 312 calls for the year.

2. The State Board of Health is withdrawing outright and reversing its adoption of four of the EMS rules and regulations, as follows:

• 12 VAC 5-31-610. Designated emergency response agency standards.
• 12 VAC 5-31- 620. Designated emergency response agency staffing capability.
• 12 VAC 5-31-730. EMS vehicle operational readiness.
• 12 VAC 5-31-940. Drugs and substance abuse.

3. Two additional 14-gauge catheters in the IV bags on board. They are not for IVs. They are for chest decompression. They are stored in the IV bags with the other 14-gauge caths, but are bound by a rubber band. If you have to start a large-bore IV, don't use these. They are too long for effective fluid delivery.

4. A patient in our run area has been diagnosed with tuberculosis. Please see the captain to find out who it is. If you run this person, please wear a HEPA mask while you are with the patient and put a surgical mask on the patient.

5. Thanks for everybody's help at the Homecoming parade and standby, the Edwardsville parade, the Cub Scout bicycle rodeo and the chicken dinner. We had a very busy month. Thanks to those who are running calls.

V - Vice-President's Report

• Have ordered 2 carts for the new banquet tables.

VI - 1^st Lieutenant's Report

• William D. Henderson Jr. from Northumberland Rescue Squad was chosen Outstanding Pre-Hospital Provider at the Virginia EMS Symposium.

VII - 2^nd Lieutenant's Report

• Installation of the C-Band Satellite Receiver is near completion. When that's finished, Mid-County will apply for status as an EMSAT site and the monthly EMSAT broadcasts will be held at the Mid-County station instead of at the elementary school.

VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report

• Unit #48 is the first-out ambulance until further notice. The generator on #46 is having problems. #46 will go to Richmond for service on Wednesday, Nov. 19th.

IX - Auxiliary's Report

• Bake Sale was held 10-11-2003 Another Bake Sale is scheduled for 11-22-2003. Bingo to be held 12-5-2003. No Bingo Jan-Feb 2004.

X - Building Committee Report

• None.

XI - President's Report

• Thanks for sending Nancy and others to the Symposium. A thank you note was read from the American Red Cross for all the help during Hurricane Isabel. Got an OK from Northumberland Co. to purchase $4500.00 worth of personal protective gear.

XII - Old Business

• None.

XIII - New Business

• Christmas Party to be held at our building on 12-13-2003 at 5:00pm until?.
