November 1, 2006 - General Business Meeting - Wednesday night 7:35 p.m.

I - Dan T. called meeting to order.
II - Secretary's Report
  • Minutes have been posted. There are 2 typos on the October minutes, Janice will correct and repost. Dave made a motion to accept the minutes and Herb seconded the motion. They were adopted.
III - Treasurer's Report
  • Fundraising contributions have slowed down. Income has decreased in the last 3 years. The good news is Interest has increased from 2005 to approximately $5000. Food Lion reimbursements have also increased for this year. Larry made a motion to accept the report and Dave seconded it. All approved.
IV - Captain's Report
  • There will be training on Sunday, October 4 th for the Glucometer and nebulizer. Dr. Sutherland has approved this and those interested should attend.
  • An announcement of the 5 people was made, who are attending EMT class at this time. Nick Wilson, Linda Wilson, Beverly Townshend, Pam Townshend and Rebekah Haynie .
  • The Health Department will provide Flu Shots and it is advised that those who want them should contact the Health and make an appointment. Dave will check on the cost.

V - Vice-President's Report

  • Clorox wipes have been placed in the squads by Nancy for use on the equipment and counter.

VI - 1st Lieutenant's Report
  • Ed attended the Fallen Firefighters ceremony in Oct. Over 100 EMT/Firefighters were honored for having died in 2005. Majority died of Heart Attacks. A reminder that the Squad takes care of its own and that each member needs to take care of himself.
  • A reminder that 5 members will be attending the Symposium in Norfolk and there is a EMT class currently in progress.
VII - 2nd Lieutenant's Report
  • None.
VIII - Vehicle Officer's Report
  • The onboard Battery charger is working fine in the Suburban.
  • Unit 48 has been sent to Texas for a rechassis. The unit should be back in 2-3 weeks. The new squad will have some changes that include backboard, drug box and the way the radio is mounted.
IX - Training Officer's Report
  • There will be training on Sunday, November 5th from 2 PM to 4 PM, on the Glucometer, computube and nebulizer for those interested. Bill Henderson will be doing the meeting.
  • Devon also reminded people of the current EMT class that is in session.
X - Building Committee Report
  • The light seems to be out in the back that will be checked. It was mentioned it could be the light sensor.
  • The ballast seemed to be off in the Bay, this will also be checked.
XI - President's Report
  • The emergency meeting that was held was about the Life EVAC from West Point. There was no action taken.

XII - Old Business
  • Sharon Jones was voted off probation. A motion was made to take a verbal vote by Nancy and Herb seconded it. She was voted in as regular member.
  • The Christmas Party will be December 9 th. Paul will handle this again this year and asked for help. He received several offer to help and he will set up a meeting on a Sunday and let those people know.
  • A motion was made to change the December meeting to December 4 th at 7:30 PM. This is due to elections and having 5 members in class on Wens nights. The meeting on Monday will give those a voice in the elections. Nancy made the motion and Ed seconded it.
  • Nancy read the names of the officers up for vote from the nominating committee. It was also added that any candidates can be added before the voting.
XIII - New Business
  • Northern Neck Electric had their yearly dinner October 17 th. They covered Safety on Generators and the New Hummers that are being used as Command vehicles were available for viewing.
XIV - Auxiliary's Report
  • It seems the Rappahannock Record posted the Chicken Dinner that was cancelled. Since several people showed up at the squad, Dan will call Sally and see why the dinner was still posted.
XV - Cadet Report
  • The dance was postponed until further notice. The cadets were excused from the meeting because they were cleaning the bay area.
