| This supplement is for changing the mail preferences in Netscape (specifically
Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0), and assumes that you have been using Netscape.
If you have an early version of Netscape (2.xx), we suggest that you download
a more current version.
SERVER SETUP
1. Bring up your Netscape browser. (You do not have to be
"on-line").
2. Click Window
3. Click Netscape Mail
4. Click Options
5. Click Mail and News Preferences
6. Click the Servers tab. A window like the one below should
appear.
NOTE: The Mail directory and the News RC Directory should
already be setup.
(There is no need to change anything in the Mail or News windows and
the paths do
not have to be the exact paths in the window below. DO NOT
CHANGE THESE).
7. Type mail.rivnet.net for the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server.
8. Type mail.rivnet.net for the Incoming mail (POP3) server.
9. Type "your" username in the "POP3 User Name" Window.
(all lowercase)
10. Click OK.
This should complete the Server portion of Netscape Navigator
mail setup.
Continue to setup your "Identity".
1. Click Options
2. Click Mail and News Preferences
3. Click on the Identity Tab. A window like the one below
should appear.
4. Enter your "Real Name" (or what you want to be called)
where it says Your Name:
5. Enter your email address (username@rivnet.net) where it says
Your Email: (Remember, lowercase only)
6. Enter your email address (username@rivnet.net) where it says
Reply-to Address:
7. Enter your business name or leave blank where it says Your
Organization:
8. Leave Signature File blank
9. Click OK
This should complete the setup of your Netscape Navigator email.
You may test your email by sending a message to yourself. Use your
own email address "username@rivnet.net" (where you substitute your username
for username) as the recipient. Remember, you do have to be "on-line"
to send and receive email. |
